Ameristar Casino Resort Spa St. Charles is a riverboat casino located on the Missouri River in St. Charles, Missouri, a northwestern suburb of St. Louis. It is one of several casinos in the greater St. Louis market. It is currently owned by Boyd Gaming. Ameristar attracts over 5.5 million visitors a year[1][2] and is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Missouri

The casino opened on May 27, 1994, then owned by Station Casinos under the name Station Casino St. Charles. It was one of the first two riverboat casinos in the state, and originally offered 24,500 square feet of gaming space with 52 blackjack and craps tables and 813 video poker machines. Due to regulations of that time, admission fees were charged, and gambling sessions were restricted to two-hour cruises with a $500 maximum loss per session.[3] In late 1994, the casino was moved to a new boat, the Station Casino Belle. Cruising was required until 1996, when a change in regulations allowed riverboat casinos in Missouri to be permanently moored. For some time, two casinos were actually operating, one on the boat and another on a barge, until 1999, when the entire casino was consolidated to a barge, partially due to a regulation change which eliminated boarding restrictions.[4] In October 2000, Station Casinos sold its Missouri properties, also including Station Casino Kansas City in the deal to Ameristar Casinos. In 2008, a major expansion of the property included a hotel, pool, and spa.[5] In 2013, Ameristar Casinos was acquired by the now defunct Pinnacle Entertainment. Pinnacle Entertainment was acquired by Penn National Gaming in 2018, but it chose to sell 4 of Pinnacle's properties, Ameristar Casino Kansas City, Belterra Casino Resort & Spa, Belterra Park and Ameristar St. Charles to Boyd Gaming to ensure regulatory approval. Many experts see a trend in casino consolidation, especially in markets such as Missouri, as a means of cutting costs.[6]

Ameristar St. Charles has over 130,000 square feet of gaming space, 400 hotel rooms, a pool, 7 restaurants, 12 bars, an entertainment venue, a spa, and 20,000 square feet of event space. Unlike Illinois casinos, it is open 24 hours a day except for Wednesdays, when the casino closes from 5am to 6am. The casino currently includes over 2,000 slot machines as well as table games and a poker room. Non-gaming amenities also include a Topgolf Swing Suite and an arcade.

Spicy food makes me happy.
I just love that tingle on my lips and the burn in my throat.
Daryl, the musician in my life, quickly pointed out that famously sang about Lake Charles in the song.
But beyond the food and the song, what makes this city in Southwest Louisiana special?
I quickly learned that there are lots of fun things to do in Lake Charles LA.
The 27 stops on the Boudin Trail are far from tourist spots.
Instead, they are local Lake Charles restaurants, butchers and even truck stops, each stop serving its unique take on.
The Sausage Link is a worthy stop on the Boudin Trail.
House-made boudin can be eaten mild, spicy, smoked or fried.
Warning — the crispy boudin balls may be addictive.
Although boudin is typically made with pork, rice, green peppers and seasonings, every spot on the Boudin Trail makes boudin differently.
Some stuff the casings with other proteins like alligator and shrimp.
Some smoke the boudin, while others fry the boudin into crispy fried balls.
In an ideal world, there would be time to hit all 27 stops to sample every type of boudin.
On this trip, though, I only had time for two stops.
Here you can see the hot boudin, the smoked boudin and the fried boudin balls.
My first stop was at the Sausage Link, a local eatery helmed by boudin master Matthew Fruge.
Right behind the glass windows in the shop, Fruge butchers the meat and makes his boudin with pork, rice, natural hog casings, fresh vegetables and other local ingredients.
Hot cracklins are for sale by the cash register, providing an added treat to enjoy on the ride to the next stop.

Luckily, the Creole Nature Trail features twenty-six miles of sandy beaches, making the area perfect for all kinds of aquatic activities in Lake Charles from swimming to fishing and more.
Holly Beach, a well-known beach on this trail, was once dubbed the Cajun Riviera.
However, the beach is now more rustic due to damage caused by Hurricanes Audrey and Rita, making it a tranquil spot perfect for lounging, taking long walks and collecting seashells.
Take a Walk on the Sabine Wildlife Refuge Wetland Walkway A walk around the 1.
One spot on the Creole Nature Trail that is well worth a stop is the Wetland Walkway at the Sabine National Refuge.
Although the walkway is just a mile and a half loop, there is much to see during a walk over the freshwater marshes.
